"The Composer Is Dead" - Orchestra Entertains and Educates With Mystery Story Performance
Lemony Snicket’s The Composer is Dead, a whodunit that takes place in an orchestra pit while introducing listeners to the sounds of various instruments, is the featured composition for the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra’s annual free Friends and Family Concert. The concert will take place on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2pm in the Jamf Theatre of the Pablo Center at the Confluence. Nick Poss, owner of the Eau Claire Music School, will narrate the story of an Inspector being called into an orchestra’s symphony hall to investigate a murder. The Inspector questions the violins, the woodwinds, the trumpets, and even the conductor. The subtle humor, as the inspector “tests” all the instruments’ alibis, will entertain children and adults alike. Under the direction of Music Director Frank A. Watkins, the members of ECCO will also host their instrument “petting zoo” after the concert, where children and adults alike can get a closer look and listen of each instrument. The Pablo Center’s ArtMobile will also be open in the lobby from 1-4pm, hosting free, music-themed art projects for all ages.
