UW-Eau Claire’s Old Library has a new name: Vicki Lord Larson Hall. The university announced Jan. 31 that the building, which houses a variety of student services, would be named for Lord Larson, a longtime UWEC faculty member, administrator, and interim chancellor. Sadly, Lord Larson died the same day at the age of 74. A professor of communications sciences and disorders, Lord Larson joined the UWEC faulty in 1973. She was chairwoman of the Department of Communication Disorders from 1978-83. Later she became an associated dean, and according to a UWEC news release, “In the 1980s she was instrumental in helping shape the university’s focus on faculty-undergraduate student collaborative research.” Between 1991 and 2000, she was an administrator at UW-Oshkosh, and from 2005-06 she was interim chancellor at UWEC. She was later named chancellor emerita and an honorary alumna of UWEC. A renaming event at Vicki Lord Larson Hall was held Feb. 15.
