The Oxbow Hotel & The Lakely just announced an intriguing gallery show for March 31 with headliner Haley Heynderickx. The Portland-based singer/songwriter’s debut 2018 album I Need To Start a Garden, garnered rave reviews from publications like Pitchfork, Pop Matters, and Under The Radar. Her signature sound immediately recalls ’60s and ’70s folk music with soft finger picking and minimalist instrumentation. She’s a force, and it’s cool to see her headlining her own show after opening up for Ani DiFranco at the now-closed State Theatre in June of last year. Tickets are available at volumeonetickets.org

The Salon at Odd Humyns in downtown Eau Claire is quickly becoming a choice music venue for all kinds of performances, with their biggest and most ambitious show yet happening this weekend on March 22. Sister Species is a critically-acclaimed 8-piece chamber pop band based in Minneapolis. The band features three-part trumpet harmonies, tons of remarkable instrumentation, and epic orchestration. They’ll be performing at The Salon alongside Nelson Deveraux, a saxophonist who appeared on Bon Iver’s 22, A Million, plays with the band This Is The Kit, and toured with Har Mar Superstar.
