Chippewa Valley Book Festival Turns Page to Its 20th Year

Tom Giffey |

For its 20th anniversary, this fall’s Chippewa Valley Book Festival will feature more than 20 events celebrating those who create – and consume – the written word. The fest, which will run Oct. 21-27, will feature a smorgasbord of national and regional writers, and most events will be free and open to the public. “The 20th Annual Chippewa Valley Book Festival is a literary spectacle for devoted book lovers from western Wisconsin and beyond,” said Judy Dekan, the festival’s co-chairperson. “The seven-day festival features 18 authors and over 20 events and offers a wide variety of topics to satisfy all interests.” Featured authors include Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Art Cullen (Storm Lake: A Chronicle of Change, Resilience, and Hope from a Heartland Newspaper), Pulitzer Prize nominee Rebecca Makkai (The Great Believers), and two Wisconsin poets laureate, Margaret Rozga and Kim Blaeser, not to mention Chippewa Valley favorites such as John Hildebrand and B.J. Hollars. For a full lineup of events, visit cvbookfest.org, then (book) mark your calendars.
