Comedian. Writer. Spectacular human. That’s Sabeen Sadiq, a Chicago-based comedian and actor, according to her website. As a part of the Red Letter Grant Comedy Night, hosted by the Menomonie Market Food Co-op and Clearwater Comedy, Sabeen Sadiq will be in Eau Claire at The Plus from 8:30-10pm on July 18 for a night of laughter, giggles, chuckles, and chortles. Proceeds from the evening will go to the Red Letter Grant, a charitable program that offers four $2,000 grants in the spring and fall of every year to women-run small businesses. “We unabashedly believe that when you fund, mentor, and stand up for women, amazing things are bound to happen,” said Reba Krueger, the Red Letter Grant director. Donations will be welcome at the event, and Clear Water Comedy will give 50% of door proceeds to the Red Letter Grant project. Tickets are $7 and include a free beer, rail mixed drink, or soft drink. You may know Sadiq from her roles in “Codeswitched” and “The Girl Down Below,” or from the Desi Comedy Fest in San Francisco, the Muslim Funny Fest in New York, the Women’s Funny Fest in Chicago, or her comedy tour “Outcasted,” which is currently sold out in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. “The Red Letter Grant Comedy Night with Sabeen Sadiq is the perfect opportunity for community members to support the grant in a tangible way while taking a night out in downtown Eau Claire,” Krueger said.
