“The Selfish Giant: Giant Builds His Wall”
by Sierra Lomo
2016, watercolor, colored pencil, 8.5x11”

Sierra Lomo is a UWEC BFA Illustration graduate and they are currently studying in Baltimore, MD, for their MFA in Illustration Practice at the Maryland Institute College of Art.

“Done for professor Ned Gannon’s Illustration Narratives class, I explored my personal style by illustrating a short excerpt from Oscar Wilde’s The Selfish Giant. Although this was one small project in my art career, I discovered how watercolor can be used in bold and graphic ways rather than the ethereal appearance in which most are familiar. Even in graduate school I’m gravitating back towards watercolors and expanding my practice through blending the traditional medium with the demands of the digital world.”– The Artist
