Melissa Burke is a Wisconsin native who loves to travel and explore. She has road-tripped solo from coast to coast, and documents every journey with her camera.

“This image was taken in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood on a cold, dreary March day. I think rooftop water towers represent human ingenuity at its best; quintessential urban metal structures, perched precariously atop tall buildings, holding the most natural fluid substance necessary for life – water. The beautiful mix of curved and straight lines drew me from the street, up a spiraling stairwell and onto the windy roof, to quickly compose my picture and whisk away before anyone even knew I was there. I was fascinated with medium format film at the time, and shot the composition with Yashica Mat 124 Twin Lens Reflex. The film was later scanned and printed digitally.” The Artist
