Pioneer Tavern

A Water Street staple for more than 30 years, the Pioneer Tavern is a classic bar in a beautiful space just a few steps from the Chippewa River. Housed in a building that's on the National Register of Historic Places, the Pioneer features nightly drink specials as well as a beer garden out back. Indoor games include pool, foosball, and darts, and volleyball leagues in the summer. Available for graduations, birthdays, and other events. Free peanuts on Tuesdays. Bingo on Wednesdays.

A Tapper of Two Rivers for $1 (American) on a Thursday night? That's all that almost all that needs to be said about the Pioneer Tavern. Now with 3 new flat screen televisions, and fruity fishbowls, you cant go wrong with a little 7:00pm to 11:00pm stint at the Pioneer.

I've been drinking down on water street for 10+ years. Its been my expierence that the pioneer has some of the ugliest bartenders on water. The place, unfortunatly, has nothing going for it. 10 years ago it wasn't like this, but between over-priced watered-down drinks and stank-ass bartenders, this place sucks. So, if you wanna piss away money and get some beergoggles, look no further than this dive.
