Local Rock History: Another Carnival music video archive
Holy crap, a YouTube user named “sevenlines1987” just uploaded a small treasure trove of music videos from late-eighties/early-nineties Eau Claire band Another Carnival.* Talk about local music videos at their finest. (Not to mention 1990s hair and fashion at its finest.) You’ll notice lots of local landmarks and even a whole video shot in the Heyde Center with a vibe straight outta The Shining (check out the sweet guitar solo at 1:45):
Man, these were made back when music videos had story lines and stuff – that may or may not have anything to do with the actual song. Check out “Rain on Me” for some great band members-as-actors footage. You can check out sevenlines1987’s whole Another Carnival YouTube channel here.
My personal Another Carnival memories come from them playing a special show at my middle school gym (St. Patrick’s – I’m guessing they knew a teacher or something). I just stared at the drum set the entire time. It was awesome. A few years later, I took drum lessons in the dingy basement at Speed of Sound Side by Side when it was located in downtown Eau Claire and few ’Carnival dudes owned it/worked there. By the time I was in college and saw them plying under UWEC’s clock tower, they sounded suspiciously like the Spin Doctors.
Ah, memories. Another Carnival – they coulda gone all the way!
