You know you're from Eau Claire when ...

You see kids, in the olden days, lumberjacks used to ride giant Swiss Cake Rolls right down the Mighty Chip' to the Cake Roll Mill. Just kidding. Man, you don't see that kind of parade float craftsmanship around here any more. (Photo from Bob Gruen.

Hey you, remember eating at Taco Island? Or the way Leinies cans looked back in the 70’s? Or swimming down at the Otter Creek swimming hole?

Well, brace yourself, Eau Claire citizens, for mass amounts of town history that only social networking can provide. That’s right, the Facebook group You Know You Are From Eau Claire When… is jam-packed with photos and memories that are guaranteed to give any Eau Clarian a satisfying blast from the past and perhaps even a few chuckles.

Perusing posts about old local businesses, celebrities, buildings, fads, and more is just half the fun. The group allows you to share your own fond memories of this great city with nearly 4,000 others. And a massive collection of delightful and historical photos can also be found on the group’s page, some of which go all the way back to the early 20th century!

So whether you are a born-and-raised Eau Clairian or new to the city I recommend taking a gander at the group for some entertaining history. Trust me, the parade photos alone make this one Facebook group worth joining.
