Bike Chat

Last night 15 people gathered at the LGBT Community Center of the Chippewa Valley to tap into the experience of Ali Gillberg, a local bike mechanic who has years of on-the-job experience and a little piece of paper from the United Bicycle Institute in Ashland, Oregon. The discussion ranged from basic bike maintenance to specific questions that people had about their own bikes. It was a fun opportunity for local cyclists to share knowledge and socialize in a laidback space, even while the temperature plummeted outside. With a growing bike scene in Eau Claire and more people choosing bikes over cars, whether to save money on fuel or get in shape, expect to see more bike-centric events pop up around town.To quote the heartfelt words of local BikeEC blogger, David Smuhl, "Now get off your ass and go ride a bike."
