Hey!
Hey!

KIND, an organization that sponsors projects doing good for communities around the nation, offers a monthly award to creative ideas – they give $10,000 to each month’s most popular project, decided by open voting on their website. Anyone can create a project and Joanie Dulin of Menomonie did just that. Her incentive? “To make something that is ugly… beautiful.” Dulin created a project for her community – entitled Menomonie Arts Power –  aiming to create art out of “ugly” electrical power boxes. With electrical boxes scattered all over the city, designs would be submitted and selected via their specific locations. Dulin hopes that by painting and creating visible art projects, tourism will increase while graffiti declines. If Dulin reaches enough support (via online the votes) she plans to use the $10,000 on art materials and advertisements to reach out to varying artists in the Menomonie community.
