Project Title: “Fall Pattern Leaves”

Summary

1. Child will draw a basic leaf shape in pencil, then outline in marker.
2. Child will draw veins in the leaf to create separate sections.
3. Child will then use crayons to draw different patterns in different parts of the leaf.
4. Child will finish the artwork by adding watercolors.

Age Level

Project should be easily accomplished by ages 4 and up with help from a grown-up.

Approximate Time

Project should be accomplished in 30 minutes or less.

Materials Needed

• White paper
• Pencils
• Black markers
• Crayons
• Watercolor
• Cups of water
• Brushes

Educational Aspects

• Kids will learn to draw leaves of different shapes.
• Kids will learn what a pattern is and practice creating different patterns on different parts of the leaf.

Objectives/Outcomes

• Kids will be creative with making their own different patterns on their leaf.
• Kids will practice manipulating art materials to create their desired artwork.


Project Title: “Wind Catchers”

Summary

1. Fold two half sheets of paper and glue sides together.
2. Draw a different type of weather on each side of the windcatcher.
3. Tape on ribbons and string the hang wind catcher.

Age Level

Project should be easily accomplished by ages 4 and up with help from a grown-up.

Approximate Time

Project should be accomplished in 30 minutes or less.

• ribbon
• yarn

Educational Aspects

Kids can learn about wind though the action of the wind catcher and the different types of weather by illustrating it.

Objectives/Outcomes

• Discus and illustrate different types of weather in the sky.
• Admire and play with the Wind catcher as it hangs in the wind.
