The Wisconsin Army National Guard, in conjunction with local public health authorities, conducted free COVID-19 testing on Sunday and Monday, May 10-11, at the Prevea Health Clinic, 617 W. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire. Over the course of two days, 504 tests were conducted, the Eau Claire City-County Health Department reported. Results were expected in the ensuing 24-48 hours.

“We’re very grateful to the Army National Guard for their assistance with this testing site, and the other sites in our region,” said Lieske Giese, director of the Eau Claire City-County Health Department. “This was a very valuable opportunity to offer free testing for those that need it, and to get a moment-in-time snapshot of disease in our community.”

As of Tuesday, May 12, 61 people had tested positive for COVID-19 in Eau Claire County. As of May 6, 26 of those diagnosed with the virus in the county had completed their isolation period and were no longer considered infectious.
