Ted’s Pizza to Celebrate 50 Years With Makeover

Lauren Fisher |

Downtown Menomonie’s Ted’s Pizza (306 Main St. East), is gearing up to celebrate a half-century in business with a grand interior and exterior renovation. On Jan. 13, the second generation-owned pizza and sandwich shop won a $10,000 renovation grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. as part of an annual contest. Ted’s Pizza was one of five finalists for the award, which it ultimately won. The contest provides Ted’s with access to interior design resources and contractors who aim to complete the renovation over a single weekend in April, according to owner Kim Gounaikis. Kim and her husband, Jim, want to keep the grant money as close to Menomonie as they can, using local contractors if at all possible. “This is not just about Jim and Kim, or Ted,” Kim said. “It’s about Main Street, and the whole community.” The venue will host an anniversary party following the makeover. “That’s the perfect way to celebrate the 50th anniversary,” Kim said.
