Wonder was a piece created to evoke an illusion of moving water with a modern twist. In search of different ways to manipulate paper, I found a process that allowed me to create what appear to be splashes of water surrounded by continuous waves that decrease in size as they continue away from the large splash. Paper manipulation has been one of my fascinations throughout my career as many of my pieces have involved different mixed-mediums. Since the creation of this piece, it has inspired me in my career as a cake decorator, and I’ve turned it into a cake as well. I hope to one day create a massive version of this specific piece.” – The Artist

What we were thinking: "This cover comes from the creative depths of Christine Johnson (now Dodd) of Trempealeau. She has used a very timely process of painting, cutting, and manipulating paper so it curls off the art board – representing splashes of water and radial depth. This piece coincides perfectly with Eau Claire's current planning boom that targets the river ways. Both projects respectively take a considerable amount of time and detail paid to the elements comprising the finished product. " – V1 Designer Josh Smeltzer
