Pop-up shops and markets are a relatively new craze that has hit the Chippewa Valley and boomed in popularity. Matt Sayles, founder of Eau Claire-based Philville Records and a member of the Driftless Revelers band had a similar idea – but with music. Philville Records announced they will be hosting a new pop-up concert experience that will pair up local and out-of-town Americana, early-roots country artists.

The inaugural show will take place on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 7-10pm at Stones Throw in downtown Eau Claire and will feature Feeding Leroy, a Duluth-based country and bluegrass band, the Driftless Revelers, and Wyatt Thomson, another local artist.

Sayles hopes to have three to four pop-up concerts a year at various venues around Eau Claire with different acts paired up. The idea for this concept came from Sayles’ wish for more out-of-town bands to play in town, along with the amazing local talents.

“We want to bring some of these great bands that are going out of their way to include (The Driftless Revelers) in their scenes and we wanted to try to return the favor and bring these amazing artists to Eau Claire from outside the area and connect them with other amazing artists that are here,” Sayles said. “You know, it’s really just kind of a cross-pollination of musicians.”

Sayles will be promoting these pop-up concerts on social media, so make sure to keep up with the Philville Records’ Facebook page for updates and more information.
