Read all about it! Dotters Books officially opened at its new spot downtown in the old Pedals Music location, 307 S. Barstow St. The grand opening took place on April 29, to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day.

The opening was met with a large crowd and excitement from the community that has continued to spill over into the past couple of weeks. The new space, where renovations wrapped up in early April, comes adorned with several new custom wood pieces by Tim Brudnicki of TreePurpose Eau Claire, is completely ADA-compliant to make it fully accessible, and has more space to allow for new and returning events.

Owner Margaret Leonard says she is excited about all of the new possibilities the space brings, including more book club meetings, book readings, and signings. Since the move from the store’s former location at 1602 Hogeboom Ave., Leonard has been able to bring back story times for kids on Saturdays, as well as hiring three new store staff, making this the first time in Dotters history that she isn’t the only person on staff.

“I want to (host events) sort of slowly, just easing into how that will all work,” Leonard said. “We’re still getting to know the space and getting to know the neighborhood, and as a staff, we’re learning how to run the store together.”

The new store’s hours are 10am-6pm, Tuesday-Saturday, so you can check it all out for yourself!
