Summer is coming to a close – the first day of fall marked by the autumnal equinox on Sept. 23 this year – so make sure to indulge in satisfying summer eats! From a unique brunch event to a tailgate grilling tournament and the final Food Truck Friday of the year (sad, we know), there's somethin' on this roundup for even the pickiest of eaters. 


1. Shakshouka Brunch with Chef Michelle Thiede | Aug. 27, 1-2pm

Indulge in a brunch experience unlike any other in the area at Forage in downtown Eau Claire at the end of August. Join local chef Michelle Thiede – who you may recognize from Live Great Food Truck! – as she demonstrates how to prepare a mouthwatering Middle Eastern dish alongside Shakshouka, brunch also including sourdough bread by Two Ovens Bakery, salad, and a cranberry ginger lime mimosa (non-alcoholic options available). 2. Til' Death Do Us Part – Murder Mystery Dinner | Aug. 30, 6-9pm

Come dressed in your wedding best for this wedding-themed murder mystery dinner event! Hosted at Dixon’s Autumn Harvest Winery, enjoy an evening of cocktails, delicious food (and a wedding cake of course!), and a delightfully thrilling performance. The three-course dinner and performance event is ticketed, so make sure to reserve your seats ASAP!

3. Tomato Dinner by Kitchen Technique | Sept. 7, 6-8pm

Join rockstar local chef John Bender at Forage in downtown Eau Claire for a unique, colorful five-course tasting menu. Beautiful Wisconsin-grown tomatoes are the star of the multi-course dinner, dishes including Tomates aux Cervettes, Pasta all Norma, Tomato Consommé and Mussels, and more. 4. Volume One's Food Truck Friday | Sept. 8, 11am-7pm

It’s that time of year again when the final Food Truck Friday event series in Phoenix Park comes to a close, and though it is sad, the event will me mighty, providing food nearly all day to satisfy your lunch, dinner, and snack cravings. Don’t miss the final Food Truck Friday of the year featuring favorites like Holy Donuts, Smackdaddy’s, Frybread Factory, Davis Dogs, Ramone’s Ice Cream, and more.

5. 8th Western Wisconsin Tailgate Grilling Tournament | Sept. 9, 11am-7pm

This free-to-attend event is loaded with anticipation, competition, and the savory smell of grilling, smoking, and barbecuing! Head to Hobby’s Bar and Grill to watch 14 local teams clash head to head, revealing the tailgate grilling winner. Prizes and prize money will be up for grabs for the top three of each category and top four overall across the five categories: juicy Lucy’s, chicken fajitas, beef roll-ups, turkey breast, and Wisconsin apple ribs. Donations will also be taken for two local charities.
