It’s finally that time of year… the time in which my mood is directly tied to how well a group of 53 men play a game on any given Sunday. Yes, football season: The most wonderful time of the year, and with that comes Fantasy Football. I’ve grown quite fond of being the general manager of multiple pretend football teams each year.

Fantasy Football has been a conduit to rekindling old friendships, creating new ones, strengthening bonds between coworkers and, most importantly, giving me a very good reason to firmly plant my keister on the couch every Sunday to soak it all in, much to my wife’s chagrin. It’s become one of my favorite rituals: iPad in one hand to check scores, phone in the other to talk trash to my league-mates, and America’s game on the TV from noon until 10pm(ish).

Once again this year, Volume One has put together its own league, with both newbies and pros. We got together a couple of weeks ago for our draft, enjoying pizza and the pleasure of each other’s non-work-related company. It’s truly a beautiful existence, and I’m so thankful that someone made this silly game out of another game so dummies like me can feel like we’re part of the action. So … are you ready for some (fantasy) football?
