This past summer, the City of Eau Claire tried out a first-time launch point for its July 4 fireworks show – the historic 80-foot-tall High Bridge – after leaving its longtime Carson Park location. The move was met with varying reactions from the public, so the city created the Eau Claire July Fourth Celebration Committee this fall to help determine what future celebrations will look like. Now, the committee is seeking public input.

The City of Eau Claire is working with Visit Eau Claire to gain feedback from community members and visitors via a survey about the annual fireworks show to provide a safe, high-quality event in the future.

The online survey includes seven questions and notes the safety and staffing concerns that the police and fire departments as well as the fireworks launchers had about the Carson Park location. In 2022, a fireworks misfire struck the bleachers at Carson Park, which further heightened safety concerns.

The survey considers three launch points: East Hill (used from 2020-2021), the High Bridge (2023), the Grand Avenue Bridge (used for the annual Clearwater Winter Parade fireworks), another location in the downtown area, or a different location outside of downtown.
