After the April 2 election, there will be at least two new members on the Eau Claire City Council. Two incumbents – Jeremy Gragert and Jill Christopherson, both of whom are finishing their second term on the council – have filed notifications with the city that they won’t seek re-election. Three other incumbents have submitted paperwork to seek additional three-year terms on the council, and two of them will face challengers.

Up for grabs are five district-level seats on the City Council (which also includes five at-large members and a council president, who are elected in different years). The deadline for candidates to file nomination papers was 5pm on Tuesday, Jan. 2. The districts and the registered candidates are as follows:

District 1

Jessica Schoen (incumbent).

District 2

Emily Anderson (incumbent) vs. Brian Trowbridge (challenger).

District 3

Aaron Brewster. (Gragert chose not to run again.)

District 4

Clara I. Serrano. (Christopherson chose not to run again.)

District 5

Mary Catherine Partlow (challenger) vs. Andrew Werthmann (incumbent).
