DIY Paper Plate Butterflies

Looking for a fun new art project this summer? Try these crafty paper plate butterflies.
Summary

Decorate their paper plates with markers and/or crayons (can use paint if outdoors).

Cut their plate in half.

Trace/cut out butterfly body shape from colored paper.

Staple “wings” behind body.

Cut pipe cleaner in half, attach to head with tape.
Age Level
Project should be easily accomplished by ages 4 and up with help from a grown-up.
Approximate Time
Project should be accomplished in 30 minutes or less.
Materials Needed
- Paper plates
- Stapler
- Scissors
- Masking tape
- Crayons
- Markers
- Pipe cleaners
- Construction paper
- Googly eyes
- Paint (optional)
Educational Aspects
- Kids can learn about different flowers and their life cycle.
Objectives/Outcomes
- Kids will create their own flowers using paper shapes, and possibly pipe cleaners or popsicle sticks.
