Looking for something to do this Fourth of July? Or how about the perfect spot to watch fireworks? Check out this roundup of patriotic events slated for the Chippewa Valley this weekend.


Eau Claire

What: Fireworks Extravaganza

When: Sunday, July 4, 10:05pm

Where: Visible from (almost) anywhere in Eau Claire

Sparks fly with the “Fireworks Extravaganza,” sponsored by Festival Foods, which (like last year) will originate from a higher elevation than usual (near Forest Hill Cemetery on the East Side Hill) and will be projected higher in the sky to be visible from more locations around Eau Claire.  However, there will be no ground show and some streets will be closed to parking. Altoona

What:  Independence Day celebration and fireworks

When: Saturday, July 3, starts at 5pm.

Where: Cinder City Park, Altoona

Bring your patriotism and pride to Altoona's Independence Day gathering and fireworks event. 

  • 5pm: Food trucks & concessions open
  • 5-9pm: Kids activities 
  • 6pm: Tournaments (Cribbage, Kickball, Bean Bags)
  • 6:30pm: Live Music
  • 7pm: 5K and youth races begin (pre-register online or by 6pm day of)
  • 10pm: Fireworks sponsored by Festival Foods

Menomonie

What: Fireworks show

When: Saturday, July 3, Sundown

Where: Over Lake Menomin

The Menomonie Area Chamber & Visitor Center hosts a dazzling firework show at sundown over Lake Menomin (tentatively beginning at 10pm). The Rassbach Museum will also be open to the public for no charge from 11am-5pm, followed by an indoor screening of the movie The Sandlot. Concessions will be available for purchase.
