The Foot & Ankle Clinic has been serving the Chippewa Valley and Western Wisconsin areas for more than 30 years, specializing in — you guessed it! — foot- and ankle-related medical services. From conditions like plantar fasciitis and arthritis to sports injuries, to reconstruction and surgical needs, Foot & Ankle Clinic’s team of board-certified doctors makes them the area’s experts for any health concerns related to your feet.

The feet and ankles are the workhouses of the body. Despite how small a body part they seem, they make up 25% of the bones in the body, and are made up of 33 joints and 100 ligaments, muscles, and tendons. Foot & Ankle Clinic, part of the Oakleaf medical system, is equipped to handle all podiatric needs, and as its doctors stress, any amount of foot pain is worth reaching out about.

“We focus on patient care first, above all else,” Dr. Sam Elsner said. “You’re not just another number or patient at our clinic. We are devoted to the diagnosis, treatment, and care of any condition a patient may come to us with, from general pain to simple procedures, or surgical needs.”

The Clinic’s team of four doctors are nearly as integrated into the Chippewa Valley’s community as they are exceptional practitioners. Dr. Elsner, a Fellow with the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgery and a Diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, joined the Clinic in 2019; Dr. Brent Fuerbringer, a Western Wisconsin native, is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery; A Fellow and Diplomat as well, Dr. Mack completed her undergraduate education at UW-Eau Claire, and joined the Clinic in 2019; Dr. Gregory Mack — yes, it’s a family business! — is also a Fellow and Diplomat, and has treated podiatric patients in Western Wisconsin since 1991.

Across Foot & Ankle Clinic’s seven offices — located in Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Menomonie, Rice Lake, Cumberland, Shell Lake, and Stanley — its team specializes in both non-surgical and surgical treatment, a personalized approach created for each patient. Arthritis, for example, can be treated a variety of ways.

Arthritis in the foot and ankle, most common in the mid foot, big toe, or ankle, is an inflammation of the joint and loss of cartilage. Symptoms can include pain and stiffness’s welling in or near the joint, and difficulty walking or bending the joint. Foot & Ankle Clinic is able to break down treatment options by non-surgical and surgical options:

Ankle Arthritis Treatment:

Conservative (nonsurgical):

  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), like iburprofen
  • Rigid ankle bracing
  • Corticosteroid injections

Surgical:

  • Joint replacement
  • Fusion

Throughout all ongoing care, Foot & Ankle Clinic’s team will be with you every step of the way, a philosophy that stems from its team values: “Listening to those we are privileged to serve; Earning the trust and respect of patients, profession, and community; Exceed your expectations; Ensure a creative, challenging, and compassionate professional environment, strive for continuous improvement at all levels.”
