While this will be the third year of the Monster Mash Party and costume contest, The Fire House Bar (202 Gibson St., Eau Claire), is getting its Halloween spirit on with new events this year as well.

Come experience “Drag Me to Hell,” the first drag show at the local bar that may require “blood ponchos.” “It’s mostly a joke, but we are purchasing them just in case,” said manager and lover of all that’s spooky, Chance Smith. This dark drag show will feature local favorites Lana Ono, Divine Intervention, Taylor Ashton, Amber Hudson, and Sapphire. Slated for Oct. 14 at 9pm, the event is 21-plus and costs $10.

Get ready to do the time warp! On Oct. 27, the bar is hosting a classic midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. At 10:30pm there will be party games followed by a small costume contest, with Fire House staff joining in the festivities and dressing up as Rocky Horror characters (Smith will be Dr. Frankenfurter). There will be party bags available with all the appropriate amenities to throw at the screen, or bring your own!

And don’t miss the iconic Monster Mash Party and Costume Contest on Oct. 28 at 9pm. The beloved Blood Bag Sangria will return along with other drink specials, dancing, spooky-themed lighting, and costumes. If you miss the weekend party, come to the Service Industry Halloween Party on Monday, Oct. 30, at the bar, featuring exclusive deals for those part of the service industry grind.

Last but not least, on Halloween night there will be a special horror movie trivia game. The game will be written and hosted by Smith, a Friday the 13th franchise fan. For those whose methods of studying consist mostly of binge-watching horror movies (like myself), you’re in luck! Trivia questions will be based on the “classics classics,” the “slashics” (slasher-classics), and some modern horror (’90s and 2000s).

Join in the spooky spirit at The Fire House/Slaughterhouse pub this October!
